Privacy Policy

Ply Labs LLC ("Ply") operates buildwithply.com (the "Site"). This policy explains what information Ply collects, why, and what choices you have. Ply keeps this short and plain on purpose.

‍If you have any questions, email Ply at hello@buildwithply.com.

The short version
Ply runs a small advisory practice, not an ad business. Ply collects only what it needs to reply to you, send a newsletter you asked for, schedule calls, and keep the Site running. Ply does not sell your personal information. You can opt out of the newsletter or ask Ply to delete your information at any time.

‍Information Ply collects

Information you give Ply directly‍ ‍

  • Email and messages. When you email hello@buildwithply.com or send a message through the Site, Ply receives your email address and whatever you choose to write.

  • Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe, Ply collects your email address so it can send occasional updates.

  • Scheduling. If you book a call, you'll do so through Cal.com. You provide your name, email, and any details you add when booking. That information is handled by Cal.com under its own privacy policy, and shared with Ply so it can prepare for and hold the call.

Information collected automatically‍ ‍

  • Site analytics and hosting data. Ply's website host (Squarespace) automatically collects standard technical information — such as your IP address, browser type, device, pages viewed, and referring site — to keep the Site secure and to help Ply understand general traffic. This is described in Squarespace's own privacy and cookie policies.

  • Cookies. The Site may use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions (making the Site work) and, where enabled, for basic analytics. Where required, you'll be given the chance to accept or decline non-essential cookies. See "Cookies and your choices" below.

‍Ply does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and the Site is not directed to children.

How Ply uses your information

‍Ply uses the information above to:‍ ‍

  • Respond to your messages and inquiries;

  • Schedule and prepare for calls you book;

  • Send the newsletter, if you subscribed (every email includes an unsubscribe link);

  • Operate, secure, and improve the Site;

  • Comply with legal obligations.

‍Ply does not sell or rent your personal information, and does not share it with advertisers. Ply's legal bases for processing (where GDPR applies) are your consent (newsletter, non-essential cookies), Ply's legitimate interest in responding to you and running the Site, and compliance with the law.

Who Ply shares it with

‍Ply shares personal information only with the service providers that help it run the practice, and only as needed for them to perform their function. These currently include:‍ ‍

  • Squarespace — website hosting, analytics, and newsletter delivery;

  • Cal.com — call scheduling.

Each processes your information under its own privacy policy. Ply may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect its legal rights.

Cookies and your choices

‍Cookies are small files stored on your device. The Site uses:‍ ‍

  • Essential cookies, needed for the Site to function and stay secure; and

  • Analytics cookies, which help Ply understand general, aggregated Site usage.

‍Where required by law, you'll be shown a cookie notice and can decline non-essential cookies. You can also control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies, though some parts of the Site may not work as well if you do.

How long Ply keeps it

‍Ply keeps personal information only as long as it needs it for the purposes above — for example, as long as you're subscribed to the newsletter, for as long as you and Ply are in contact about working together, and as required for legal or record-keeping reasons. When it's no longer needed, Ply deletes or anonymizes it.

Your rights‍ ‍

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:‍ ‍

  • Access the personal information Ply holds about you;

  • Correct or update it;

  • Delete it;

  • Opt out of the newsletter (use the unsubscribe link, or email Ply);

  • Object to or restrict certain processing;

  • Request a copy of your information in a portable format.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information Ply collects and how it uses it, to request deletion, and to correct it. Ply does not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

EU/UK residents (GDPR): You have the rights listed above and may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.‍ ‍

To exercise any of these, email Ply at hello@buildwithply.com and Ply will respond within a reasonable time.

Security

Ply takes reasonable measures to protect your information and relies on established providers (Squarespace, Cal.com) that maintain their own security practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so Ply can't guarantee absolute security.

Links to other sites

‍The Site may link to third-party sites (such as Ply's LinkedIn profile or Cal.com). Ply is not responsible for their privacy practices; please review their policies.

Changes to this policy‍ ‍

Ply may update this policy from time to time. When it does, it will change the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
